Laurel At Mercedes-Benz Berlin Fashion Week SS2014

Amethyst, turquoise, cherry red and the evergreen black (or shall we say, everblack?). Always classic colours as seen at the Laurel Spring Summer 2014 show in Berlin at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week earlier this month. The colours are, of course, lovely but we're loving the cuts and styles, too. Classic yet fresh!

We're also loving the long printed jacket and printed dress featuring prints from the art of Jo Netzko, Munich artist and painter, who also happens to be the husband of Laurel's Head of Design, Elisabeth Schwaiger. For this collection, both Schwaiger and Netzko were inspired by the beauty of Asia, particularly of Bali - Schwaiger's favourite retreat.

I'm sure you've seen the ethereal dress worn by Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss in the second instalment of The Hunger Games movies, Catching Fire. Would you believe it was created by Indonesian designer Tex Saverio? His designs have also been worn by Lady Gaga for her perfume advertisement, and by Kim Kardashian in the March 2013 American Elle magazine. Could JFFF uncover another Tex?

Launch of SF By Sazzy Falak and Sakura Malaysia

We were lucky enough to be invited to the Sakura Malaysia and SF By Sazzy Falak launch cum fashion show at the Royal Selangor Golf Club a couple of days ago to preview their latest collections. Sakura Malaysia presented bags constructed from the traditional fabrics of Malaysia like the Batik, Pua Kumbu and Tekad while SF By Sazzy Falak unveiled their urban-wear offerings as well as a sneak peek into what designer/actress/TV host Sazzy Falak will be showing at the PLITZS New York Fashion Week, to which she had been invited, in September this year.
