The British Independent Film Awards Red Carpet

Going through our old files, we found pics from last year's British Independent Film Awards and think that some of the outfits the stars wore are worth sharing here. We love Saiorse Ronan's colourful lace-layered dress from Peter Pilotto while finding child actress Harley Bird's top-to-toe tartan just delightful (right down to plaid socks and boots!). Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit actress and former model Gemma Chan caught our eye in her lace Alice by Alice Temperley jumpsuit, and now we'll be looking out for her style on red carpets to come. Captain America: The First Avenger star Hayley Atwell came in an almost-all black ensemble (save for the white collar), designed by Jasper Conran, which at first we thought looked kinda boring, but grew on us the more we looked at it. It looks chic and almost rebellious, looking intentionally un-glam and not trying to get your attention. We also noticed Hannah Murray for the first time, not being an avid fan of Game of Thrones, which apparently she acts in, and think she looks really cool in an androgynous tailored suit with double-piped lapels and sheer cream shirt. Then, there was one unnamed guest rocking a cool dress with a long sky blue tropical-print skirt, which we found out is from Italian designer Fausto Puglisi, and that there's more palm-tree-printed clothing to covet! Full Skirts For Fall Winter 2014

Some full skirts were spotted on the runway at recent Fall Winter 2014 shows in New York and Paris, and black seems to be the prevalent colour this season. Our faves are the ones from Diane Von Furstenberg and Carmen Marc Valvo, but there's something to be said about the eclectic print on the one from Mara Hoffman.
